Otto, 93, Bowdon, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Golden Acres Manor nursing home in Carrington. Margaret Koenig, daughter of Henry and Eva (Carl) Koenig, was born May 28, 1925 at rural Chaseley where she grew up and attended a nearby country school. Following her graduation from Bowdon High School, she enrolled at Valley City Normal School where she earned her teaching certificate and taught in several Wells and Kidder County rural schools.

On June 19, 1949, Margaret was married to Walter Otto in Bowdon. They made their home on the Otto farm north of Robinson and began raising their family. Walter passed away August 28, 1961.

On January 22, 1965, Margaret married Richard Otto in Fessenden. They remained on the Otto farm until moving to Bowdon in 1970. Margaret was a member of the Bowdon Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed being outdoors planting and caring for her garden and flowers. Margaret was quite artistic and excelled at drawing and painting. She also enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, ceramics, crafts and passing time with word finds.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; her children, Carol (Ken) Roeker of LaMoure, Duane (Pat) Otto of Beulah, Sandy (Kevin) Kelly of Bismarck and Valerie (Steve) Tripp of Pettibone; 8 Grandchildren; 14 Great-grandchildren; 5 Step-grandchildren; 6 Step-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, LeRoy (Betty) Koenig of Jamestown and Willis (Amanda) Koenig of Mandan; and 4 sisters-in-law, Leona (Rodney) Magnuson of Carrington, Phyllis Hebert of New Port, WA, Sharon Otto of Fargo and Luella Otto of Mandan. Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter; her daughters, Joyce and Faye; her son, Terry; 3 infant grandsons; 1 great-granddaughter; her parents; and 1 brother, Everett Koenig. Her funeral was held Thursday, December 13 at 10:30 A.M. at the Bowdon Lutheran Church in Bowdon with burial at the Bethany Cemetery in Robinson.

Visitation was held Wednesday from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.
