Margaret “Peggy” Joyce Bassett Vicari, 85, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at home with her family. Peggy was a teacher in southern California. She earned a master’s degree specializing in Medical Learning Disabilities which enabled her to work one on one with children with these disabilities later in her career.

She loved music and played classical piano and the organ. She was gifted with the most positive outlook on everything life sent her way, often noted by family that the sky in her world was always pink, because her glass wasn’t half full it was always full. She shared her sharp sense of humor and loads of laughter and giggles on a daily basis.

To know her was to love and admire her. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Zier and husband, Jeff, of Newport, NC; son, John McNaughton and wife, Kim, of Newport, NC, David McNaughton and wife, Marie, of Palos Verdes Est. , CA; sister, Florence Hinckley and husband, Bill, of Saratoga, NY, Jean Kinyon on Holly Springs, NC; brother, James Bassett and wife, Judy, of Toledo WA; mother-in-law, Mary Vicari of Alton, IL; 6 grandchildren and their spouses; 3 great-grandchildren; and dozens of nieces and nephews.
