Margaret Ruth Collins August 21, 1934 – February 04, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Gate City, VA – Margaret Ruth Collins, 84 Margaret Ruth Collins, age 84 of Gate City, VA passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 at her sons residence peacefully with her family by her side. She was born in Gate City, VA on August 21, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Clarence L. and Myrlie Leona Quillen Blair. In addition to her parents Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James “Jim” B. Collins; a brother, Marion Monroe Blair and a brother-in-law Billy Jack Cox Sr

She was a member of Moores Memorial Baptist Church and was a devoted volunteer for Scott County Food Pantry for over 10 years. She is survived by her son, Mike Collins (Frankie); 4 grandchildren, Brandy Collins (Tim Bledsoe), Brittney Helton (Chris), Sabrina Kennedy (Jake) and Chris Collins; 2 great grandchildren, Timmy Munsey and Jon Munsey; a sister Wilma Cox; nephews, Jason Cox and Billy Cox (Sharon); several great and great-great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 5 to 7 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, VA.

Funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Rev. Alan Mosser and Rev. Ricky Begley officiating.

Graveside service will be held Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11 AM at the Strong Cemetery, Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 to follow in procession. Pallbearers are Chris Helton, Jason Cox, Billy Cox, Jake Kennedy, Tim Bledsoe and B.K. Addington. Honorary pallbearers are grandson Chris Collins and great-grandsons, Timmy Munsey and Jon Munsey.
