Maria’s Obituary Obituary Maria Cervantes, 53 Maria Cervantes, a beautiful soul returned to her heavenly home on Sunday March 3, 2019 at age 53. Maria was born April 21, 1965 in La Cidra, Michoacan, Mexico to Jesus Cervantes and Adelaida Barragan. Growing up in Michoacán Mexico gave Maria the will and desire for a brighter future.

At age 21 she traveled to America with her young daughter age 4. In 1987 Maria married Jose C. Vargas. They were blessed with a large and loving family, 6 children and 13 beautiful grandchildren.

Her children remember her as a kindhearted, strong, compassionate, generous and devoted mother who loved and supported them unconditionally and one who encouraged them to pursue their goals, never give up and work hard. The sacrifices she made for her children were countless- she always put the immediate needs of her children and family first before her own unselfishly. Maria was a devoted believer of God.

A candid spirit full of life. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. One of Maria’s daughters remembers her mother’s laugh as one full of joy and vitality.

An unforgettable beautiful smile that warmed everyone’s hearts. Maria was a caring friend to all who knew her, She brought special joy and much happiness to her sister Maria’s life, loved to sing to her granddaughter Elena. She took delight in playing dolls and makeup with her granddaughters.

Maria enjoyed gardening and caring for her farm animals. Her home was surrounded by beautiful flowers. Maria always cooked large BBQ’s and made the hottest salsa that set your tongue on fire.

Maria is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Asui) Raass of Nampa, Jose Jr. (Caitlin) Vargas of Blackfoot, Jesus Edwardo (Kalysta) Vargas of Aberdeen, Crystal (Isaac) Vargas of Tremonton, Stephanie (Jose Flores) Vargas of Tremonton; bonus daughter, Carmen (Carlos) Morales of Idaho Falls; siblings, Pedro Cervantes, Maria Jacobsen, Refugio (Jan) Cervantes, Mario (Herminia) Cervantes, Trinidad (Martha) Cervantes and Rafael (Natalie) Cervantes; and 13 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Hawker Funeral Home.

Family will meet with friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2019 at Hawker Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service. Memories of Maria and condolences to the family can be shared at www. hawkerfuneralhome.com.
