Marian Wosepka, 92, a kind and gentle soul, who spent most of her life taking care of others, putting them ahead of herself, died Friday, November 30, 2018, at St. Benedict’s Health Center of Dickinson, with her family by her side. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM on Monday, December 3, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Golva, North Dakota. Marian’s funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Golva with Father Daniel Berg as Celebrant and Father Pat Cunningham as Concelebrant.

Silha Funeral Home of Beach has been entrusted with the arrangements. Marian was born August 13, 1926 in Wibaux County, MT, the daughter of John and Veronica (Efta) Marciniak. She was raised on a farm in the St. Philip’s community south of Wibaux, MT.

Marian was united in marriage to Kenneth Wosepka on February 12, 1945 at St. Philip Catholic Church in St. Philips, Montana. They farmed and ranched on the Wosepka family farm seven miles east of Golva for ten years. In 1955, they moved to Golva where they owned and operated the Golva Grocery Store for thirty-two years.

She gave birth to ten babies, each one held lovingly in her gentle arms. Marian was family oriented and enjoyed following her children in all of their activities. While raising her family, Marian was a Cub Scout Leader, taught CCD and was active in St. Mary’s Altar Society.

She also enjoyed her homemakers club, her birthday club, and her card club. In November of 1989, Ken and Marian sold the grocery store and retired to Dickinson. Marian enjoyed quilting and was active in a quilting club.

She crocheted an afghan for each of her grandchildren for their graduation from high school and made them a quilt for their wedding. Her faith was very important to her and she was an active member of Queen of Peace Parish as a Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister, Reader and holy hour devotion. She was a member of Catholic Daughters.

She actively participated with her husband, Ken, in his study for the deaconate and continued praying the Liturgy of the Hours after his death. Marian was active in the Cursillo Movement and Search program. She volunteered at the Food Pantry and enjoyed swimming aerobics, baking, cooking, and entertaining guests.

She babysat for her grandchildren. Her home was a gathering spot for family and friends. She loved music and greatly enjoying singing and dancing.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Ken on March 29, 1995; her son, John; her parents, John and Veronica Marciniak; son-in-law, Larry Pommerer; brothers, John and Raymond Marciniak; nine sisters, Cecelia and Edwegin Marciniak, Helen Bruski, Sophia Goroski, Teresa Dobrowski, Pauline Dobrowski, Verna Sokoloski, Anna Marynik, Rosie Granat, and Elizabeth Susa. Marian is survived by nine of her ten children: Linda (Larry) Filkowski, Dickinson; Mary Ann (Jim) Schillo, Golva; Jim (Peg) Wosepka, Beach; Diane Pommerer, Ames, Iowa; Joanne Wosepka, Bottineau; Susan (Mike) Zier, Beach; Paula (Bill) Martin, Bismarck; Ken (Sarah) Wosepka, Mandan; and Tom (Kelly) Wosepka, Alexandria, MN; daughter-in-law Rosalie Wosepka, along with thirty-six grandchildren and sixty great grandchildren. Her family prefers memorials be given to Home on the Range in Sentinel Butte, St. Benedict Abbey in Richardton or North Dakota Right to Life.
