OBITUARY Marie Louise Smith May 13, 1929 – July 23, 2018 Marie Louise Smith, 89, of Apex, formerly of Es, MD, died Monday, July 23, 2018 at The Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro, NC. Marie was born May 13, 1929 in Nashville, TN to the late Edward and Margaret Hicks. She moved to Es, MD in the early 1940s and was a 1947 graduate of Kenwood Senior High School.

Marie was employed with Martin Marrietta Corporation retiring with over 30 years of service. She enjoyed bowling on several local leagues in Es, MD and playing softball on her company’s team. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Melson Smith; daughter, Carol Smith; and sister, Madelaine Hicks.

Marie is survived by her son, Barry Smith; three grandchildren, Chris, Tim and Ryan; and three great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 625 Magdala Place, Apex, NC 27502 time and date TBD. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
