Marie Susan (nee Ver Duin) Vander Waal, 87, of Sheboygan, died at Sharon S Richardson Community Hospice on July 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born in Sheboygan January 6, 1931 to Clarence and Tena (Kaat) Ver Duin. She grew up along the shore of Lake Michigan near Black River and never tired of the Lake.

She attended school in Sheboygan and later worked at the Ross Glove Factory. They raised three children, instilling in them the values of faith, hard work, honesty and humor.

In 1990, the couple moved to Sheboygan where she maintained her love of gardening, walking and cooking. Marie is a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Sheboygan. Mrs. Vander Waal is survived by a daughter, Betty Mulloy of Waukesha, two sons, John (Katrina) Vander Waal of Ephrata, WA and Timothy Vander Waal of Cedar Grove; four grandchildren, Chris (Katie) Mulloy, Kellie (Lawrence) Dillin, Megan (Jeff) Ratzesberger, and Sarah (Andrew) DiMare, and fourteen great grandchildren.

She is survived by sisters-in-law Frances Ver Duin, Eileen Ver Duin, Shirley Hilbelink and Jeannette Davies, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by John Vander Waal, her husband of forty-eight years, two brothers Howard Ver Duin and Jim Ver Duin, and granddaughter Shaunna Fujii. Funeral services will be held on July 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Ballhorn Chapels Funeral and Cremation Care Center, 1201 N. 8th Street, Sheboygan.

Rev. G.M. de Leeuw will officiate. A time of visitation and support will begin at 10:00 am until time of service, with burial following at Sunrise Memorial Garden Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in her name for the Sharon S Richardson Community Hospice.
