Marilyn A. Johnson Our loving mother, Marilyn Atcitty Johnson, 94 passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 11, 2018. Marilyn was born on April 16, 1924 in Sanostee, New Mexico a daughter of Etcitty Nez and Bah Bega. She graduated from Shiprock High School in New Mexico and went on to get her Bachelor’s Degree at Utah State University.

Marilyn believed education was important and continued working towards her Master’s Degree during summer breaks. Marilyn has lived in Sanostee, NM; Richmond, CA; Wickenburg, AZ; Aneth, UT; and Brigham City, UT. She married Matthew J. Johnson on December 12, 1944 in Carson City NV.

Marilyn was an award-winning traditional weaver, she also enjoyed sewing, crafting, traveling, going to Pow Wows, spending time with family, going to Wendover and camping. She was an amazing cook, everyone loved her dinner rolls and fry bread. She was a teacher’s aide in Aneth, Utah, she taught Social Studies at Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City.

When Intermountain closed she finished her career teaching Elementary in Sanostee, New Mexico. Surviving are her children: Yazzie (Gail Bird), Ojo Caliente, NM; Kerry Allen, Brigham City, UT; Carol Ann, Brigham City, UT; Linda Kay Montez, Prescott, AZ; Dale Kelly (ArLene), Roy, UT; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, son David, granddaughter April, and great-granddaughter Cecilia.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT. A viewing will be Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
