Marjorie “Marge” Walsh July 14, 1938 – February 10, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Marjorie “Marge” Walsh (Brown), 80, of Springfield’s Forest Park neighborhood, passed away at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 10, 2019. Born in Springfield on July 14, 1938, she was the daughter of the late George and Bertha (Wyant) Brown. Marge grew up in West Springfield and graduated from the St. Thomas School.

She was a 1955 graduate of West Springfield High School and enjoyed going to the class of 1955’s biannual luncheons. She was the owner of a catering business that she operated for many years until retirement. Marge had a passion for cooking and a love for animals always ensuring the bird feeders in her backyard were full of bird seed.

She was a past member of the Forest Park Civic Association, Springfield’s Ward 6 Democratic Committee and the American Legion Post 430 Auxiliary. She was a recreational bowler and an avid roller skater for many years including her participation in a skating show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. She was also a choir member for many years at Old First Church in Springfield’s Court Square.

Even during her recent illness, Marge always had a positive outlook on life and lived every day with tremendous passion and always looked on the bright side. She loved big family gatherings at the house where she resided for nearly 45 years and looked forward to hosting holiday dinners each year because she loved having her family together. Marge was a loving mother, sister, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, neighbor and friend.

In addition to her parents, Marge was predeceased by her first husband Gerald Parmentier and her second Husband Thomas Walsh, Jr., who passed away on February 7, 1993. She will be lovingly remembered by her five sons,“the boys” who she was so proud of; Attorney Thomas Walsh with whom she resided; Edward Parmentier of Chicopee; David Parmentier and his wife Kimberly of Bedford, Ma; Gerald Parmentier, Jr., and his wife Sandra of Springfield; and Duane Parmentier and his wife Tina of Suffolk, VA, as well as her sister Brenda Lewis-Hrycay and her husband David of Springfield; a sister-in-law Patricia Bouchard (Walsh) and her husband Andre of Feeding Hills; her grandchildren Justin, Chelsea, Michael, Nikolas, Alexis, Rachel and Theodore Parmentier, and her great-grandchildren Lilliana Santiago, Burton, Donovan and Cyrus Parmentier, and Xavier Santiago, Jr., and her nieces Claudine Bouchard, Dr. Linda Perlmutter and Kathy Lewis, and her nephews William Lewis and Michael Bouchard and many cousins. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, February 14, 2019, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M., at the Curran-Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield, Massachusetts.

Her Funeral Service will take place on Friday, February 15, 2019, at 10:00 A.M., from Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield at 11:00 A.M., with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Springfield.
