Philip “Moon” J. Mullin, 84, died peacefully on Jan. 21, 2019 at Wingate of West Springfield. Philip was born on Jan.

20, 1935 to Edward Catherine Mullin in Springfield. Phil worked for 30 years at Moore Drop Forge and retired in 1996. He went to Spfld Trade School where he played football.

He enjoyed fishing at Congamond Lake and day trips to Misquamicut Beach. Phil was known for his talent as a backstop for Kip’s Cafe, vast knowledge of sports stats, and his smiling Irish eyes. He was predeceased by his four siblings, his son Daniel in 2009 and grandson Matthew Souza in 2008.

He will be greatly missed by his loving daughter Debra Schmidt and husband Ronald of West Springfield. His granddaughters; Lindsey Sullivan and Melissa Burno, his sister-in-law Mrs. Terry Mullin, several nieces, Fenton nephews whom he shared many laughs. A Memorial Service will be held Sat.

Feb. 9, 2019 at 11 am in Sacred Heart Church, Spfld, MA. There are no calling hours and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Landmark at Monastery Heights, 110 Monastery Avenue, West Springfield, MA.
