Marge Brandt, 93, of Ackley, passed away at home on Friday, March 15, 2019. A celebration of life will be 11:00 AM Friday, May 10, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church in Ackley. Private family burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Ackley.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Thursday, May 9 at the church. A reception will be held at the Ackley Country Club from 1-5 PM on Friday, May 10. Travis Woodley of Woodley Funeral Home and Mark Boeke of Boeke Funeral Home are caring for the family.

Marjorie Marie Brandt passed away at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Drs. Kim and Becca Brandt in Olympia, WA. She died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

She smiled just before her final breath which gave her family great comfort. Marge lived with her husband, Stanton Brandt in Olympia, WA, for the past 5 years after leaving their beloved home town of Ackley in 2013. She resided in Ackley the entirety of her life until they moved to Olympia.

Marge Vietor was born on August 22, 1925 to Ben and Rena Vietor. She was a graduate of Ackley High School in 1943 and attended the University of Iowa graduating in 1947 with a degree in Social Services. She married Stanton Brandt on September 9, 1948 and was married to him until her death.

Marge was employed by the Presbyterian Home in Ackley as a social worker for over 15 years. She also assisted Stanton in the funeral business for 40 years. She was an avid knitter, bridge player, book club member, piano player, community leader, board member of the Ackley Public Library, past president of Ackley Chapter BN of P.E.O., member of the Women’s Legion Auxiliary and longtime Sunday school teacher.

She was honored to be one of the first women Deacons of the Ackley First Presbyterian Church. Marge Brandt is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 70 years, Stanton Brandt; her son, Kim (Becca) Brandt of Olympia, WA; her daughter, Jan Radnoti of Erie, CO; adopted daughter, Vicki Abbas of Westminster, CO; Marge’s 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, Kristina Radnoti of Boulder, CO, Thomas Radnoti of Boulder, CO, Anna (Bradley) Pavlik of Seattle, WA, their sons, Clayton and Wesley; Ellie (Jonathon) McNichols of Tacoma, WA, their children, David, Benjamin, James, Anna, Andrew and Beth; Amy (Austin) Wilson of Olathe, KS, Ben Brandt of Olympia, WA, Michael Brandt of Marion, IA, Lena (Michael) Posthuma of Marion, IA, Chris Brandt of Olympia, WA and Sam Brandt of Olympia, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Rena Vietor; her brother, Dean Vietor; her, aunt Julia Mulford and her mother and father-in-law, Chris H Brandt and Viola Brandt.
