Marlene Launius, 84, of East Moline, passed away November 17, 2018, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the family. Marlene was born on April 2, 1934, in Rock Island, the daughter of John T. and Dorothy (Sparling) McCarthy.

She married William G. Kratzer and he preceded her in death on September 27, 1979. She later married Clyde Launius on March 15, 1986, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1996.

Marlene had worked for the City of Moline as a secretary. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island, where she enjoyed being with her bible study group. Marlene liked spending her Saturday mornings having breakfast with her girls at the Maid Rite.

She liked her stories, her puzzle books, and above all being with her family. Survivors include her children, Connie (John) Marberry, Silvis, Jeannine (Dave) Westerlund, Osco, Pam (Tim) Tittle, Coal Valley, Sandy (Rick) Cook, Rosemount, MN; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and 4 step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands and her son, John C. Kratzer.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the wonderful, caring staff at Hope Creek for all the compassion given to Marlene. Memories may be shared on the tribute wall.
