97, was born in Canisteo, New York on July 14, 1920 to Lottie Roe and Bert Ross. She entered Heaven’s gates on June 5, 2018. Mom was bright and articulate.

She graduated as Salutatorian of her class in Wellsville, NY. Mom and Dad married in April of 1940. They had four children who adored them.

While we lived of modest means, our family was rich in love. Mom and Dad were insistent that we all attend college and were so proud of us. Dr. Jack Brooks (Melinda Brooks) is the eldest child, retired professor and Dean at Marquette University.

Michael Brooks (Jennifer Thompson) is the next in line and is retired from corporate management at Aetna Insurance Company. After Dad died 35 years ago, Mom came to live with her daughter Darlene Darrow (Jim Darrow). Darlene is a retired speech pathologist and administrator at Maine-Endwell School District.

Roger (Elizabeth) is the youngest sibling and retired from management at Eastman Kodak in Rochester. Mom was an avid reader until the last week. She enjoyed membership at the Endwell United Methodist Church and adored Pastor Mark.

She was brought up in the church and played the piano at the First Baptist Church in Hornell, NY. She resided in Hornell until 1968 when they moved to Almond, NY. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years, Jack K. Brooks.

She was also predeceased by her mother, father, sister Oletha and brother Melvin. She is survived by her four children and twelve grandchildren Ryan (Jill), John, Jack (Jennifer), Paula (Justin), Robert (Susan), Kristy, and Raymond (Megan). She is also survived by her nine great grandchildren Robbie, Brianna, Abby, Courtney (Mike), Jimmy, Jordyn, Jared, Jack and great-great grandchildren Codie and Mackenzie.

The family gives everyone who cared for Mom their greatest gratitude, including Pastor Mark and Lynne Kimpland, Dr. Dean, Dr. Sambursky, Dr. Pisanchyn, Lourdes Hospice Care, Tim Maus and the Barber Memorial Home, and many dear friends. The family will celebrate Martha’s life and receive friends on Saturday, June 23rd from 10a.m. until 12p. mp, followed by a memorial service at the Endwell United Methodist Church, 3301 Watson Blvd, Endwell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Endwell United Methodist Church at 3301 Watson Blvd, Endwell, NY 13760. Mom will be remembered as sweet, intelligent, loving and dignified woman. You raised us with values and a deep sense of family.

Rest in peace dear Mom until we meet again.
