Martha Jane Griffin August 17, 1941 – January 05, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Marshville – Martha Jane Bryson Griffin passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 5, 2019. She was born to the late George and Pauline Bryson in Lancaster, South Carolina on August 17, 1941. Family was Martha Jane’s passion and delight.

She is survived by her loving husband, Wayne, four children, Karen Schwartz of Greenville, SC, Tammy Stephenson (Kent) of Greenville, NC, Gary Griffin (Joy) of Monroe, NC, Steve Griffin (Tracy) of Marshville, NC and a sister, Mary Alice Bryson of Charlotte, NC. Martha Jane was blessed with eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her fondest memories were of spending holidays and vacations at the beach with her family by her side.

During her working life, she served Union County Extension Services in a variety of roles including EFNEP Aide and a 4-H Program Coordinator. In these roles she shared her many gifts and talents with the community she supported. Quality youth programing was important to Martha Jane, she worked tirelessly to plan, coordinate and implement programs for the youth of Union County.

Martha Jane enjoyed knitting, painting, and cooking. You could often find her knitting hats to benefit the knitting ministry at Marshville Presbyterian Church for the newborns at Atrium Health Union or preparing meals for the monthly Senior Lunch at the church. Her gift of painting she shared with family and friends who have lovely pieces of remembrance.

A celebration of life will be held 12 noon, Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Marshville Presbyterian Church. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 11 – 11:45 AM at the Fellowship House for Marshville Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Marshville Presbyterian Church, PO Box 708, Marshville, NC 28103 Online condolences may be made at morganandsonfuneralhome.com.
