Obituary for Martha Jo “Mardi” Lammons Martha Jo “Mardi” (Fields) Lammons, 76, passed away Saturday September 1, 2018, in Abilene. Mardi was the third child and only daughter born to Horace Monroe and Edythe Bentley Fields at their home on January 4, 1942, in Chalk, Texas. The family resided there until 1948 when they moved by wagon and team of horses to a home in DeLeon.

Mardi attended all twelve years in the DeLeon school system, graduating with the Class of 1960. She worked for Crown Cork & Seal in Abilene from 1979 until her retirement in 2005. She loved visiting her family and was always there when they needed her.

She was interested in her family’s history and self-published a book about her Fields family. She loved being outdoors and had a beautiful yard. She spent many joyous hours mowing, laying paths, planting flowers and hanging her ever increasing collection of wind chimes and hummingbird feeders.

She had a wonderful sense of humor which made her a hit with the little ones, especially her great grandchildren who adored their “green-green”. Mardi was preceded in death by parents, Horace and Edythe Fields; four brothers, Horace Jr., Maurice, Roger, and Bruce; a nephew, Jack Fields. Mardi is survived by five children; daughter, Deborah Andrews and husband Joe of Pennsylvania; sons, Cliff Lammons and wife Kim of Austin, Mark Lammons and wife Debra of Abilene, Richard Lammons and wife Illona of Abilene, and Brian Lammons and wife Misti of Abilene; grandchildren, Jackie, Jessica, Colton, Shelby, Kelsey, Seraiah; great grandchildren, Jadon, Josiah, and William; brother, Terry Fields and wife Winnie of Proctor; sisters-in-law, Diddy and Paula Fields; 10 beloved nieces and nephews; numerous extended family and friends; beloved animals, Bogie and Sassy.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Jeff, Shane, Greg, and Jason Fields; grandson, Colton Lammons, and great grandson, Jadon Heiser.
