Obituary for Martha “Marti” A. Carter Martha “Marti” A. Carter, 74, of Anderson, passed away on May 25, 2018 at her home. She was born on April 19, 1944 in Goshen, New York. Marti graduated from Mount St. Mary College and worked as a child case worker until she had children of her own and dedicated her life to caring for her family.

On November 25, 1967 Marti married the love of her life Harry Carter. Married for 50 years they had two children and three grandchildren. She loved nature, enjoyed walks in the woods and countryside car rides.

She had a keen appreciation for watching farming operations and wildlife. Her favorite place was the Storm King Art Center in NY, an outdoor sculpture park where she introduced her husband to the arts. An avid reader, Marti read the Wall Street Journal from cover to cover daily and enjoyed current events and medical research.

She also had a great fondness for the poetry of Maya Angelou and for the classical pianist Arthur Rubenstein. Marti had a strong sense of duty and believed intensely in the purpose of family and providing a safe, secure and loving home with an abundance of laughter. Her signature gifts were her radiant smile, thoughtfulness, generosity and humor that she freely shared with all whom she came in contact.

That legacy of bringing joy to others will be carried on in our hearts and love that we share with others. Marti is survived by her loving spouse Harry Carter; children, Rebecca Carter, Matthew (Tammy) Carter; grandchildren Brooke, Julianne and Grady Carter; her twin brothers James and Thomas Anderson; sister, Leila Reukauf and several nieces and nephews.
