Obituary for Mary “Josie” Stephenson Mary B. (Josie) Stephenson, 93, of Black Mountain, NC passed away at her home on September 27, 2018. She was born on August 20, 1925 in Lowell, NC to the late Lucius and Ruby Blair. Josie was married to the love of her life, Everett, in 1948 and began a journey together that spanned 68 years.

She found her greatest happiness sharing her love with her husband, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and numerous friends. Josie is survived by her sons, James E. (Jim) Stephenson and wife Kim Denise Stephenson of Lilburn, GA and Joey B. Stephenson and wife Susan M. Stephenson of Black Mountain; grandchildren, Brandy S. Sullivan of Las Vegas and Tyler J. Stephenson of Peachtree Corners, GA; great-grandson, Connor Rohan Sullivan of Las Vegas; and sister, Suzie Buckner of Black Mountain. In addition to her parents, Josie is preceded in death by her husband, Everett; son, Jerry W. Stephenson; and brother, Bobby G. Blair.

For 76 years, Josie was a member of First Baptist Church Black Mountain where she truly enjoyed caring for the children of the church as part of the Nursery Ministry. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday October 8, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.

Burial will be at a later date at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery where she will rest beside her husband Everett. The family would like to express their gratitude to the loving care team members who helped Josie live with dignity and joy the past two years. You entered our lives as strangers and today we are honored to call you friends.
