Obituary for Mary “Bea” Dillon Husted Mary (“Bea”) Dillon Husted, age 94, died on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at home with her family in Smithfield, KY. She was born near Hammond, IN on November 14, 1923, to the late Charles and Phoebie Dillon and raised by Wayne and Phoebie Shadle. Mary went to high school in Marion, IN, then worked for the Office of Price Control during WWII helping with the rationing of scarce supplies.

She married William (“Bill”) G. Husted in 1947, moved to Louisville, KY, in 1950 and was blessed with three loving children. Bea was the school secretary at St. Athanasius Grade School for years and was a member of the Louisville China Painters club but loved being mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother most of all. Bea is survived by her daughter Tammy Husted, Tammy’s partner Roy Lyons and his son Henry, her son Bill Husted and his wife Jeanne deCamps, son-in-law Steve Smith, grandson Josh Smith, his wife Meredith Smith and their two sons Grady and Griffin, and granddaughter Jessica Smith.

Bea is preceded in death by her husband Bill and daughter Kathy Smith. The family will greet friends on Friday, November 9, 2018, from 5:00-8:00 pm and service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 12:00 pm at Ratterman Funeral Home, East Louisville at 12900 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, KY 40243 with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, tributes may be made in the name of Mary D. Husted to the National Audubon Society at action.
