Mary Catherine (Livengood) Evans, 86, of Slate Lick, passed away on April 28, 2018, at the VNA Inpatient Hospice facility in Butler, Pa. She was born Dec. 20, 1931, in Kittanning to the late Emory and Evelyn Livengood.

Mary was the 9th of 15 children. She married Ronald A. Evans on Aug. 27, 1955, a veteran who was a Navy Firefighter stationed on the U.S.S. Lake Champlain during the Korean War.

Mary had been a devoted member of Shadyside Bible Church and was involved in many of the churches activities. She was also an amazing baker. No one made better apple dumplings than her!

She was highly sought after as a housekeeper and well liked in the community. Mary loved laughing and spending time with family and friends. She always had baked goods and a hot pot of coffee on for any visitors that may pop in.

In more recent years, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, and especially her great grandchildren. Mary is survived by two daughters, Jackie (Tom Smail), and Carol Evans; two grandchildren, Zac (Michele) Boda and Kiera (Johnny) Rizzo; and two great grandchildren, Giovanni Michael Rizzo and Agnes Claire Boda. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; her parents Emory and Evelyn; and six brothers and seven sisters.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home in Worthington. Private burial will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
