Knewton Z. Cogley, 91, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 in De Pere, Wisconsin. The son of James F. L. (Lee) Cogley and Rebecca (Houck) Cogley, Knewton was born on May 8, 1927 in Kittanning, PA. On August 10, 1948, Knewton married the former Betty Miller of Sigel, PA.

During World War II, Knewton was a U.S. Army Medical Technician stationed at the 98th General Hospital, Tegernsee, Germany from 1945 to 1947. Knewton received an Honorable Discharge. After WWII, Knewton and Betty opened their own carpet business, Cogley’s Carpets, which closed upon his retirement in 1990.

Knewton was a former Borough Councilman in West Kittanning, PA. , a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church, Kittanning, PA, and a Honorary Firemen of the West Kittanning Fire Dept. , and an avid woodworker who made exquisite hardwood furniture.

Knewton is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty (Miller) Cogley of De Pere, WI, one son, Joseph S. Cogley of Mifflinburg, PA, one daughter, Janet L. Cogley-Clymer of De Pere, WI. Knewton was preceded in death by his father and mother, and his five brothers and three sisters, James, John, Sidney, Henry, Wray, Martha, Annabelle and Helena (Cogley) Guntrum. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from noon to 2 PM at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, Kittanning, PA.

, followed by Funeral Services with Reverend Dana Wilmot at 2 PM at the funeral home, Kittanning, PA. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Distant, PA. Be not burdened with times of sorrow.

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life has been full. I savored much.
