Mary “Elise” Strouse, 97, of Evansville passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Protestant House. Elise was born July 8, 1921 in Evansville, IN to the late Bernard and Marguerite (Cobbs) Strouse. Elise was a 1938 graduate of Central High School and attended Mount Vernon Seminary in Washington DC.

She volunteered for over 30 years as a Pink Lady at Welborn Hospital. She also volunteered for the American Red Cross and worked at the Canteen during World War II. Elise was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Junior League of Evansville.

She was an avid collector of art and items related to the English Royal Family. She also enjoyed movies, Broadway Plays, traveling and bird watching. She is survived by her nephew, Scott (Christine) Strouse; nieces, Diane (Keith) Snyder, Lindsay Floyd and Dr. Leslie Strouse; 7 great nieces and nephews; and several great great nieces and nephews.

Elise was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, John R. Strouse. Visitation will be 12:00 to 3:00 pm Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave. , Evansville, IN.

A private burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Vanderburgh Humane Society, 400 Millner Industrial Dr., Evansville, IN 47710 or charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the Evansville Protestant Home for their kind and compassionate care of Elise.
