Virginia M. (Dassel) Wallace, 90, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Solarbron Terrace. Virginia was born in Vanderburgh County, IN on November 22, 1928 to the late Oscar and Magdalena (Pfeiffer) Dassel. She had worked as a secretary and retired from Mead Johnson and, along with her husband Carl, owned and operated the Old Mill Restaurant for many years.

Virginia had a warm, infectious smile and helped many children throughout the years with her support of Wish Upon A Star, which was co-founded by her husband Carl. Virginia also enjoyed playing bingo. Surviving are her husband of 69 years, Carl Wallace; a sister, Ethelene Greubel of Haubstadt; brother, Herb Dassel of Evansville; a sister-in-law, Barbara Dassel and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Melvin Dassel; by sisters-in-law, Joan Dassel and Irene Dassel and by a brother-in-law, Frank Greubel. There will be a Mass of Christian burial held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Rev. Claude Burns officiating.

Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 AM until service time on Tuesday at St. Philip Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Philip Catholic Church, 3500 S. St. Philip Road, Mt.
