Mary Elizabeth Chambers was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee on June 7, 1938 to Elsie and James Chambers. The eldest of three children, she loved her sister, June and brother, Jim dearly. She attended Elizabethton High School graduating in 1956 and went on to college at East Tennessee State University in nearby Johnson City where she was a cheerleader and graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in 1960.

Her education was important to her and provided many opportunities as she began to branch out as a young woman. She moved to Florida to teach in the Cocoa Beach area from 1960-1962. Liz’s next adventure was to travel the world as a flight attendant for Delta where she was stationed at Love Field in Dallas from 1962-1964.

On one of her flights she met a woman who set her up on a blind date with a young man who was working in the oil and gas industry named, Tony Maddox. They met in early 1964 and married later that year. They settled in Dallas and eventually had two children, Chad in 1966 and Ty in 1970.

Liz went back to work as an educator in 1974 when she founded and operated “The Children’s Learning Corner” until 1979. Her career path took a turn to real estate and she became known as a trusted real estate agent and broker associate in Trophy Club. Liz did many things throughout her life, but at her core she was a servant.

She loved The Lord and taught her children and those around her the best way she could: she lived it. Liz loved the adventure of life and was active in her church, community groups, charities and served on mission trips. She invested in the lives of others.

She had a passion for travel and was blessed with the opportunity to see the world with friends and family. Her family was her treasure, especially her four granddaughters who knew her as “Honey”. She was preceded in death by her father, James Chambers and her mother, Elsie Austin Chambers as well as her brother, James William Chambers and her sister, June Fay Chambers Snyder.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Carl Freeman “Tony” Maddox; her son, Chad Austin Maddox and his wife, Jennifer, and their daughters, Mary Kay Maclaine and Jordan Isabella; her son, Ty Carl Maddox and his wife, Tiffany, and their daughters, Meredith Grace and Natalie Kate.
