OBITUARY Mary Helen Valentine September 1, 1927 – September 3, 2018 Mary Jackson Valentine of Flagler Beach, Florida, and Whittier, NC, completed the labors of this life and entered into Heavenly Joy on Monday, September 3, 2018. Born in Demorest, Georgia, she was raised in Shilo and South Daytona, Florida. A graduate of Mainland High School, she earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Florida State University.

She taught school, coached sports and was a guidance counselor in Fort Pierce and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mabel Jackson; and brothers, Sid and Bill Jackson. She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, George III; son George IV of Old Fort, NC; daughter, Jean of Whittier, NC; son, Kent of Daytona Beach, FL; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mary was an accomplished athlete in her youth and led an active life. She was an avid tennis player, golfer, and skier until only recently. She loved watching sports and cheering for her beloved Florida State Seminoles.

Mary was a life-long Episcopalian. A Memorial Service is scheduled at 1:00 PM on September 17, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Marion, North Carolina.
