Obituary for Mary Irene Hawkins Mary Irene Hawkins, born November 7, 1933, of Bulls Gap, left this earth for her Heavenly home on Friday, April 20, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. Irene was saved at age 13 in a revival at Longs Bend Baptist Church. She lived her life as an example of Christ like, letting her light shine, hiding not under a bushel.

She showed her love not in words, but through kind deeds of cooking and praying for the sick and elderly. She attended Old Fashion Gospel House until she wasn’t physically able. She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Beulah Cole Caldwell; husband of 52 years, Charlie Mack Hawkins; 5 sisters, Mae Lawson, Clora Ward, Janie Rimer, Willie Marsh, and Helen Spears; and one brother, J.C. Caldwell.

Survivors include her daughter, Angi Gibson and husband Jeff; sons, Roger Golden and wife Teresa, and Ronnie Golden and wife Judy; 8 grandchildren, Brandon, Dawn, Hollie, Emilie, Lacie, Rhonda, April, and Nathan; 8 great grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; sisters, Jenny Fields and Linda Sloan; a special hairdresser for 20 years, Chris Smith; and a special friend, Robin. The family would like to thank Greeneville Smokey Mountain Hospice; and caregivers Debra and Lacie for all the loving care that was always shown and given to our mom. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 22, 2018, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville.

The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Mike Ray and Rev. Junior ton officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be sent at www. christiansells.com.
