Mary J. (Midge) Garey, 93, of Bowie, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio, died Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Carroll Dove House. Born October 28, 1924 in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Emilio and Rose Spano Ponzani. She was the wife of the late Delbert James (D.J.) Garey She was retired as a bookkeeper and homemaker.

She was an avid duckpin bowler and was involved in a duckpin bowling league in College Park well into her late 80’s. In her younger years she was an accomplished seamstress and embroiderer. She is survived by her daughter Cathy Garey, sister Virginia Summers and grandson Gregory Hamlett and wife Lisa and 4 great-grandchildren Hunter, Macy, Cole and Harli, and multiple nieces and nephews .

A Memorial service will be held Thursday, 11:00AM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave.
