Obituary for Mary Jane Whitehair Mary Jane Whitehair age 65, of Derby, formerly of Abilene passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita. She was born August 19, 1952 in Abilene the daughter of Clinton and Edna (Zimmerman) Whitehair. Mary Jane graduated from Abilene High School in 1970 and in 1974 received her Associate Degree in Nursing.

In 1995 she graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and later became an Advanced Nurse Practioner. Mary Jane worked for Wesley Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital and was a Public Health Nurse for many years before retiring. She is survived by her sisters, Donna and her husband John Berger of Abilene, JoAnn and her husband Brian Sheehy of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, Susan and her husband Chris Zeller of Windom, Kansas, Karen Whitehair of Irvine, California and Peggy Whitehair of Lone Pine, California.

Her brothers, Steve and his wife Peggy Whitehair of Calumet City, Illinois, Greg and his wife Jolene Whitehair of Hays, Kansas, Phil and his wife Ellen Whitehair of Abilene and Mark and his wife Kelly Whitehair of Wamego, Kansas, and her special godson, Clay Zeller and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Fred and Dennis Whitehair and her sister Jeanette Whitehair. Parish Rosary will be 5:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene with family receiving friends following until 7:00 p.m. Another Parish Rosary for Mary Jane will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2018 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Derby with Father Joe Eckberg as Celebrant.

Graveside services for Mary Jane will be 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery in Abilene with Father Abraham Panthalanickal as Celebrant. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Catholic School or Donor’s Choice and sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
