Mary Jane Warfield (Flaherty) Mary Jane Flaherty Warfield, 88, of Woodbine, MD, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Lorien Nursing Home in Mt. Airy. Born June 4, 1929, in Baltimore, she was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Steilper Flaherty and Martin Edward Flaherty and two brothers, Martin Flaherty and James Flaherty.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Eldred Donald Warfield; a son, Donald B. Warfield and his wife, Deborah Clarke; a daughter, Joan Carney and her husband, Robert. She was the loving grandmother to two granddaughters, Tonnie Kate Warfield and Bibiane Warfield Kanzler, her husband Kristopher; and two grandsons, Timothy Tyrus Carney and Patrick Breckenridge Carney. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Renzo, Timber, and Marley, as well as a step-great-grandson, Jackson.

Her loving kindness touched the lives of many nieces and nephews. A graduate of Towson Catholic High School, Mary Jane attended The College of Notre Dame Maryland, eventually pursuing a career as a bookkeeper for a variety of businesses, including Woodbine National Bank, Lisbon Chrysler Plymouth, Bechtel, BioScience, and Sykesville Eldercare. A longtime parishioner at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Mary Jane was, at one time, a member of the Parish Council and a Sunday School teacher.

An avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles, she enjoyed watching, listening to, and attending games. She lived a full and satisfying life traveling with her husband and spending time with her family at their beach house in Duck, North Carolina. Sociable and outgoing, she enjoyed playing bridge and keeping up with friends.

She was a lifetime member of the Cattail River Garden Club and she pursued her love of reading as a member of the Read ‘Em and Eat Book Club. Mary Jane will always be remembered by her family and friends as a warm, compassionate, and gracious lady. A funeral service, officiated by Reverend Michael Ruane, followed by a celebration of her life will be held on June 4, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1200 St. Michaels Road, Mt.

Airy, MD 21771. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to further research and support of caregivers of persons with dementia (www. act.
