Mary K. Garrett of Benld, Illinois passed away at her home on Friday, January 25, 2019, having attained the age of 83 years and 8 days. Born in Macoupin County, Illinois on January 17, 1936, she was the daughter of John Baptist and Veronica Bednar, nee Koniak. She was united in marriage to Donald Garrett, Sr. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benld, Illinois and he preceded her in death in 2012.

Preceding her in death besides her parents were her husband, Donald Garrett, Sr.; her son, Michael Garrett; her brothers, Gene Bednar, Edward Butch Bednar, Bobby Bednar, John Bednar, Teddy Mayfield and Herman Bednar and her sisters, Helen Shiell, Christine Chrissy Campbell, Joanie Leonard, Eva Elliott, Rita Hunt and Monica Bednar. Surviving are his children, Donald Garrett, Jr. of Edwardsville, Illinois, Kathy and Ronald Garrett, both of Benld, Illinois; his sister, Patsy (Paul) Seketh of Benld, Illinois; his grandchildren, Isaac, Monique, both of Edwardsville, Illinois and Gabby Bires of Springfield, Illinois, nieces, nephews and many friends. All services will be private.

The Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois is assisting the family.
