Mary Louisa (Mary or Louise as known to friends and family) was born on September 23, 1924 in Paxton, Florida to William Lafayette and Bama (Mason) Gordon. She went to Paxton High School where she played on the Girls Basketball Team.

She was very active in 4H that is where she learned to sew. She worked at a Sewing factory in Florala, Alabama and at Wolverine Knitting Mills in Bay City, Michigan. On February 29, 1942, she married Daniel James Perry.

They raised 6 daughters and one son. Louise was very competitive. She loved playing Tripoley with the women of Silver Lake, Bunko with the ladies of Lake of the Pines and Tuesday night Euchre with the gang at Lake of the Pines.

She would play cribbage or skip-boo with her husband Dan and when she would win, she would celebrate a little too much, that in turn would send a deck of cards into the wood stove. She loved to play checkers and the board game Trouble with her grandchildren, never feeling sorry when she would win and would never let them win to make them feel better. From Florida, Alabama to Tawas, Michigan, Esville, Michigan to Lake, Michigan and anywhere in between, Louise made friends wherever she went, always ready to chat or to comment to someone.

After moving to Lake, Michigan in 1977, she became active at the Lake of the Pines. She started the Lake of the Pines Women’s Club, which is still active today. She has enjoyed many other clubs that the women of Lake of the Pines have going on, especially “Stitch and ” as she liked to call it.

She was also active in the VFW Auxiliary Post 3039 in Farwell, Michigan. There she enjoyed the meetings, friendships and most of all marching in the Labor Day Parade. She is survived by her children Geri Warren of Bay City, Daniel Perry (Deb) of Oshkosh Wisconsin, Susan (Jeffrey Witbrodt) of Midland, Linda Martin (Don Leslie) and Elizabeth (Bernard Yantz) of Traverse City, 18 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren and 12 Great, Great Grandchildren, Brother in law Dick Perry (Maxine), Sister in laws Darlene Perry and Violet Perry, along with family and friends from all walks of her life.
