Wayne H Saupe, age 76, of Lake, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019. He was born to Thelma and Harry Saupe and was raised in Flint Michigan but always had the country in his heart. Moving to Central Michigan to live his dream of raising his family and operating the family farm in 1965.

Always one that had an interest in helping other people, he dedicated many years to the local community. From serving as a volunteer fireman for over 25 years, coaching little league or helping anyone that needed a hand on any type of project. Every one he touched was better for knowing him.

Wayne is survived by his wife Judy of 54 years, the love of his life. He had three children, Michael (Joan) Saupe of Lake, Wayne (Amy) Saupe of Farwell and Jennifer Scott of Lima Ohio. He also has seven grandchildren Andrew, Gregory, Nicholas, Kathrine, William, Alexandra and Grace.

You could find him chasing them from sporting event to sporting event, school events or just spending time passing on his wisdom. Always willing to find the time as this was his life’s greatest joy in his later years. He was also survived by his sister Janice Flannery (David) of Dayton Ohio and several other nieces, nephews and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Judy’s parents, and his nephew, Steven Flannery. He was an avid outdoorsman and took great pleasure with time in the woods with his family and friends. Every year he enjoyed hosting deer camp, running in the northern Michigan woods chasing bear or the spring time when he was hunting turkeys.

Though a humble man, he had many other accomplishments besides his loving family and friends that he achieved through the years. He earned an Associates Degree in Agriculture from Michigan State University. He was an International Champion at the International Firefighter Competitions in the bucket brigade.

He was also the only 3 time winner of the Turkey Award at the Kerwin Paesens Open. The family would like any memorial donations to go to the Garfield Township Fire Department. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 1 at 11:00 AM at the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Mr. Dean Paesens officiating.
