Mary Margaret Magan, 65, of New Smyrna Beach, died peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Mary was an avid traveler, a spirited swimmer, an animal lover, and was passionate about caring for others. A graduate of Keene State College, she went on to teach elementary students in several schools in New Hampshire.

A continual learner herself, Mary later studied the art of Chinese medicine and graduated from the Florida College of Health in 1997. At the Squirrel Hill Family Wellness Center in Pittsburgh, PA, Mary ran an acupuncture clinic from 1998 to 2008. Due to her love of the ocean and passion for neighborhood & small business growth, Mary settled in New Smyrna Beach in 2011 and became an active member of the healing community.

She was the owner of Turning Tide Acupuncture, where she practiced holistic healing methods including family constellation work, massage therapy, shiatsu, and herbal medicine in addition to acupuncture. Known as the “PIN DCTR” among her peers and colleagues, Mary was well-respected as a healer and treated her patients with experience and compassion Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Paul T. and Jane Magan. Left to cherish her memory are four siblings: sister Kathleen Magan Smith and husband Wells of Bozeman, MT; Martin Magan and wife Gina of Pittsburgh; Alan Magan and wife Geralyn of Clarksville, MD; and Brian Magan and wife Sharon of Pittsburgh.

A beloved aunt to 11 nieces & nephews, Mary enriched her family’s lives with with her never-ending kindness and inner wisdom. She also leaves behind a devoted tribe of wonderful friends whose lives were touched by her eternally positive spirit. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, October 13 at 4:30 PM at the Pranic Healing Center on 516 S. Orange St. in New Smyrna Beach.
