Resting in the arms of Jesus! I know you loved me, but God loved me best. Mrs. Mattie Olivia Roberson Edwards was born May 23, 1939.

She peacefully entered into eternal rest on May 16, 2018 at Carolina East Medical Center, New Bern, NC. Mrs. Mattie Olivia Roberson Edwards was born and raised in New Bern and Vanceboro, NC. She attended High School in Vanceboro, NC.

She was a member and Minister (ordained in September 2009) of Mount Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Aurora, NC under the leadership of Pastor Robert Whitaker, where she served until her health declined. In her earlier years in 1983, she joined Fire Baptism and Truth Church under the leadership of Pastor Lillian Dixon. Later in 1989, she became a member and Missionary at Crusade House of Deliverance Ministry under the leadership of Apostle Betty B. Vines.

She was preceded in death by two children, Delphine Edwards and Ernest Edwards. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of fifty eight years, Alexander Edwards; mother, Mainer Moore of Ayden, NC; one daughter, Lorraine Wiggins (James) of Aurora, NC; one son, Anthony Edwards (Brenda) of Aurora, NC; sisters, Bessie Lovette (Lovette) of Louisiana, Alice Cobb of Tennessee, Mary Gardner, Diana Roach (Melvin) of Hope Mills, NC, and raised as a sister, Ruth Scott of Ernul, NC; one brother, Alex Jr. (Denise) of Hope Mills, NC; sisters in law, Maggie Blango, Maragret Bryant (Andrew) and Pearl Minor all of Aurora, NC; brother in law, Leo Edwards, Jr. (Kathy) of Spring Lake, NC; two aunts, Mattie Guion and Myrtlebell Roberson both of Havelock, NC; six grandchildren, Detrick, Kendryk (Amber), Keyona, Anthony, Caleb, and Jamar; seven great grandchildren, Deivontrick, Keyniah, Damian, Kendra, Kayden, Kamdan, and Ja’Mari; five god daughters, Ronesshia Moore of Maryland, Turkesshia Moore of Greensboro, NC, Latoria Willis of Texas, Ruthis Tyre of Maryland and Jennifer Cannon of Aurora, NC; close friends, Annie Lee Peed and Georgia Williams both of Aurora, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
