Obituary for Mr. Percival Randolph Selby Percival Randolph Selby was born in Trinidad on April 23, 1947 to the late Jestina Hayde and Clyde Selby of Trinidad. He quietly departed this life at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina on June 13, 2018. Percival was educated in the Trinidad School System.

He worked at the shipyard in Trinidad and retired after more than 20 years of dedicated service. He also worked as a taxi cab driver while living in Trinidad. When Percival moved to the United States, he spent time in Maryland and New York.

He eventually moved to Farmville, North Carolina, which became his home. Percival worked at Vidant Hospital for several years as a professional painter. He loved working with the people and was well-known for his Island accent and affectionate smile.

He retired and used his talents to be a blessing to others especially after Hurricane Floyd devastated eastern North Carolina. He loved to cook, eat, dance and listen to various types of music. Percival was a member of the Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Senior Saints, Kitchen, and Communications Ministries.

He was a member of the SA Locks Mass Choir where he searched persistently for the right song to lead as he served. Percival leaves to cherish his memories; two daughters, Stacey Springer of Aruba and Pauline Springer of Trinidad; two sons, Andre Springer and Keron Selby of Trinidad; ten grandchildren; special brothers and sisters in Christ in Greenville, NC, Marvin Wilson, Rena McLawhorn, Ricky and Bernita Demery and a host of devoted cousins, relatives and friends.
