Maureen “Rene”‘s Obituary Maureen “Rene” McGee Kelly, 87, of Moultrie died Thursday, January 17, 2019 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones. Graveside rites will be held 11:00AM Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Wayne Woods officiating.

Casketbearers will be Michael Lively, Kelly Nobles, Wesley Courtney, Kenneth Hortman, Tony Hortman, Levi Pickett, Lee Pickett and Lee Morris. Born September 22, 1931 in Meridian MS. , she was the daughter of the late Bannister Tyree McGee and Gladys Elmore McGee.

For many years Maureen could be found at Kelly’s Grocery where many family memories were made. Her grandchildren often spent the day there playing barefoot and going home with “store feet”. She was also known to stop and pick up a “road kill” cabbage that had fallen off the farmer’s market trucks.

She and her husband Albert enjoyed taking trips in their motorhome vacationing with friends and family. She made sure to teach her girls how to make a proper biscuit and her famous Thanksgiving dressing. She was often found playing a rousing game of cards with her sisters when not playing cards she enjoyed reading a good book.

Maureen was a member of First United Methodist Church of Moultrie and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Boyd Kelly; sisters, Mary McGee Mays and Thelma McGee; brothers, B.T. McGee, Ray McGee and Howard McGee. Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Kelly Nobles and William Martin of Augusta, Rebecca Kelly Lively and Thomas Wayne of Cordele, Judy Kelly Grant of Alpharetta; grandchildren, William Kelly Nobles, Elizabeth Paige Nobles, Michael Wayne Lively, Ashley Lively McLean, Dianne Maureen “Mauri” Grant, Sarah Margaret Grant; great-grandchildren, Lillian Grace Lively, Caitlyn Dawn Lively, Maddox Price McLean; sisters, June McGee Paschal of Moultrie, Ree McGee Hortman of St. Simons, Sidney McGee Pickett of Jacksonville, FL.

, Linda McGee Morris of Moultrie. The family would like to thank Colquitt Regional Hospice for their loving care. The family will receive friends after the graveside service at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.
