Mrs. Maurice Harris, age 92, and a resident of Denver, CO passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at The Denver Hospice at Lowery in Denver. She was born in Smith County, MS at Pineville, on Friday, August 29, 1925. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.

Charles Holder officiating. Interment will follow in the Leaf River Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest. A resident of Colorado, Mrs. Maurice and her late husband, Mr. Carl were the retired business owners of the Harris Butane Company at Raleigh.

They had previously lived in Gautier and Raleigh respectively, before moving to the Centennial State. One who never met a stranger, Mrs. Harris was a socialite, who will be remembered for her cooking skills, creativity in crafting, sewing and knitting. She loved her family very much and enjoyed the simple things of life.

She was a Baptist by faith and enjoyed the fellowship of her friends at Grace Baptist Church in Parker. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Harris; her parents: Oliver and Eunice Royal Daniel. Survivors include one daughter: Janice Harris; one grandson: Greg Moss; two great-grandsons: Ryan and Christopher Moss, all of Denver; several nieces and nephews.

At the request of Mrs. Maurice, there will be no visitation or graveside service, but she asked that those present in celebrating her life gather at the Leaf River Baptist Church Fellowship Hall for a time of food and fellowship following the funeral service.
