Mayme Leona Davis Monhof, 92, of Salem, AL, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Azelea Trace Nursing Center in Columbus, GA. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am EST, on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Vance Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Grant Parker officiating.

A private interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 until 11:00 am EST, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Monhof was born on August 6, 1926, in Liberty City, IN daughter of the late Harold Russell Davis and Audrey Icel Yelton Davis. She worked as an administrative assistant with Civil Service. Mrs. Monhof was a member of the Order the Eastern Star, Alabama Chapter 431, as wells as a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband August Monhof III; a son, August Harold Monhof; and two brothers, Wendell Davis and Jack Davis. She is survived by one son, Walter Neill Monhof and wife Glenda of Salem, AL; one sister, Mary Maxine Newman of MI; two grandchildren, Christopher and Pamela; six great-grandchildren, Brian, Erin, Ashley, Lane, Brayden, Brittley and Hope; two great-great-grandchldren, Luke and Lilly; other extended family and church family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Epworth United Methodist Church, Youth and Children’s Programs, P. O. Box 430, Phenix City, AL 36868, in honor of Mayme Leona Monhof.
