Simpson, 76, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 at home. He was born January 8, 1943 in Portales, NM to Melvin and Evelyn Simpson. Mel is survived by his wife of 57 years, Glenda Simpson of Grants, NM; his daughter Robyn and her husband Gilbert Eaves of Grants, NM; his son Jeff and his wife Janice Simpson of Grants, NM; brother-in-law Kit South and his wife Valerie of Grants; four grandchildren Brooke Eaves, Kasey Eaves, Wyatt Simpson and Kristina Simpson; brothers Mark and his wife Christine Simpson of Skitook, OK, Howard Simpson of Portales, NM, and Mike and his wife Sherilee Simpson of Nebraska; sisters Meloy and her husband Larry Hill, of Jal, NM, Mary Jane Simpson of Portales NM, and Clarene Meade of Portales, NM.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Milan, NM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Thatcher officiating. Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Simpson, Gilbert Eaves, Kit South, Wyatt Simpson, Richard W Jones, and Carl Elkins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brooke Eaves, Kasey Eaves, Kristina Simpson, Koby South, Wallace Berryhill, Jurgen (Wally) Wollweber, Fred Padilla, and Isaac Padilla.
