Melba Garnet Allen, age 96, formerly of rural Morning Sun, died Thursday morning, July 12, 2018, at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington. The daughter of Thomas and Bessie Grim Wykert, she was born on June 2, 1922 in Columbus City. Melba married H. Burdette Allen.

He preceded her in death in July of 1999. She graduated from Wapello High School. Melba was a homemaker on the farm and enjoyed sewing.

She is survived by a son, Jerre & Pearl Allen of Morning Sun; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Melba was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burdette; a son, John; and a sister Mabel Edwards. Cremation has been fulfilled and a private burial will be in the Fulton Cairo Cemetery, rural Morning Sun.
