Obituary for Mercatrena Mikitoff Mercatrena Mikitoff, age 60, Born September 22, 1958 of Highland Village, Texas, passed away early Sunday morning on October 14, 2018 surround by her son and husband at Medical City Lewisville. Merc was born in Williamson, West Virginia to Rodney and Vivian Diamond of Port Orange, Florida. Merc later moved to Chicago, Ill where she graduated from Kelvyn Park High School in 1976, she started her career at Brookfield Federal Savings and Loan where she met her husband before moving on to Wilson Sporting Goods in the team sports division.
After moving to Texas she worked for Frito Lay, PepsiCo. and a fun part time job at William and Sonoma. Those who knew Merc know that describing her in even a few words could not do her justice.
She was kind, caring, thoughtful and selfless but most importantly she could be described as genuinely loving. Mercatrena would give everything she had to help someone or something in need, whether it be family, a friend or one of the several animals she rescued. In her heart she wanted to be a loving wife, mother and daughter to which no one could argue against, she was truly the best.
Merc always brought light to any room she was in and any person she met. Merc also loved giving and most recently walked to raise money for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association, the highlight of which, and something she was very proud of, was when she walked a half marathon in San Fransisco to raise money with a group of friends. In her final years while battling cancer Merc never gave up hope and always had a positive spirit.
When one door closed she stayed positive and said she would fight on and one day get better and put this behind us and get back to our normal lives, Merc battled to the very end, extending her life for as long as she could and passed peacefully surrounded by her husband and son. Mercatrena is survived by her husband Michael, to which they recently celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary, her son Nicholas and her parents Rodney and Vivian. The family would like to thank Susan Gillman, Merc’s best friend since they met in grade school, her friends and co-workers who she considered family at Frito Lay, Pepsi, William and Sonoma, and her neighbors in Highland Village and the Highland Village Lions Club who were there for her when she needed them.
