Obituary for Michael James Ruez Mike Ruez A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Mike “Pops” Ruez was born in Louisville, Kentucky on the 14th of May, 1950. The Son of Russell and Ann Ruez, he was the middle child, between his older brother Dennis and younger sister Marcia.

He married, Heidi on the 12th of October 1979 and had two sons, Zack and Brandon. His “Buddy” Quinn was the granddaughter that brought him joy, smiles and laughter on a daily basis. Pops worked his professional career in sales for the Military Exchange System and was a proud retiree of the United States Army Reserves.

Mike was a lover of his local sports teams; Louisville Cardinals, Kentucky Wildcats, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Cowboys. His real passion was for the sport of soccer. He was involved in soccer either as player, coach, referee, or a spectator from the time Zack and Brandon started playing at age 3.

When you looked to the sidelines of any soccer game for his sons, Quinn, Downing Middle School, or the Doll girls, Pops was there supporting his kids. Pops was beloved by his immediate, extended, and chosen family across the states of Texas and Kentucky. He got along with everyone and was always there to offer an encouraging word or a funny anecdote.

He loved playing the guitar and listening to his favorite influential musical artists; John Denver, the Eagles, and Jimmy Buffett. Since he had such a big heart that he daily gave to others we ask that you please donate in his memory to the American Heart Association to help others as he did. www2.
