Michael F. Butler, 60, of Beloit, WI, passed away in the arms of his loving wife on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Beloit Memorial Hospital (Hospice Unit). He was born September 29, 1958 in Beloit, WI the son of George and Elenor (Austin) Butler. Mike was a graduate from Beloit Memorial High School in 1976.

He married Sheree Penewell on June 5, 1982 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Beloit, WI. Mike began his working career at the Majestic Theater where he met his wife Sheree. He also worked in management at Arthur’s Treacher’s Fish and Chips and Pizza Hut in Beloit.

He worked from 1981 to 1994 at Regal Beloit as a machinist in Rockton, IL and Durst Division in Shopiere, WI. Mike began at Ingersoll Milling Machine & Cutting Tool Company in 1994 working his way from an NC programmer, manufacturing supervisor, product/brand manager, technical buyer to finally proposal engineer. He left Ingersoll last year just short of 25 years.

Mike was a cycling enthusiast but his passion was food. He took many business trips throughout the U.S., Mexico, Italy and Israel and loved all the food experiences and new friends he met while traveling. In the past, he taught cooking classes at Bushel and Pecks and was the Saturday cook at the St. Vincent de Paul soup kitchen, A Table for You in South Beloit, IL.

He especially loved visiting the Beloit farmer’s market and making new creations at home for his wife Sheree. Survivor’s include his wife of 36 years, Sheree Butler of Beloit, WI; two cousins, Lori Wright Henderson of Chicago, IL and Bill Benson of Rockford, IL; mother-in-law, Rosemary Penewell of Beloit, WI; sisters-in-law, Kim (Jay) Schultz of South Beloit, IL, and Debbie (Tim) Georgeson of Oregon, WI; many other relatives from the Butler side of the family from Durand, IL. He was predeceased by his parents, uncle Norm (Dorothy) Austin, aunts Marie (Leroy) Benson and Betty (Earl) Wright; his grandparents William and Nellie (Swanson) Austin; and his father-in-law William Penewell.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jubeck and the staff of Trauma & Life Center at UW Hospital, Dr. Tolentino, Dr. Wang, the staff of the hospice unit at Beloit Memorial Hospital and Beloit Regional Hospice for all the love and care that was given to Mike. A special thanks to Fr. Steven Sabo from St. Peter Parish in South Beloit, IL and Fr.

Steve Kortendick at UW Madison Hospital for Mike’s spiritual care. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Michael will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 620 Blackhawk Blvd, South Beloit, IL, with Fr. Steven Sabo officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation of remembrance will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Rosary to be recited at 4:30 p.m. Memorials may be given in his name to St. Vincent de Paul of St. Peter Parish, South Beloit, IL.
