Esther Marie Schenck, 96, of Rockton, IL, died Thursday, January 31, 2019 at NorthPointe Terrace, Roscoe, IL. She was born January 4, 1923 in Baraboo, WI, the daughter of George D. and Esther Martha (Stoner) Schenck. Esther attended Madison East High School but graduated from Maine Township High School in Des Plaines, IL in 1942.

While in school Esther was known for her artistic, athletic and vocal talent. While attending Madison East High School her wood carvings were given a one women’s show. Esther attended Rockford College studying Life Drawing and Advertising Design.

From 1945-1946 Esther served as an apprentice sculpture-industrial designer to Alphonso Iannelli an associate of Frank Lloyd Wright. Esther began working in 1942 at the Federal Reserve Bank, Chicago, IL, and in 1946 was employed as an artist for A.B. Dick Company, Chicago, IL. While employed at A.B. Dick Company Esther progressed from Artist Advertising Sales to Photographer and Layout Designer for the employee publication.

She also served on the board of directors for A.B. Dick Credit Union. Esther retired in 1985. She was also the owner and operator of High Top Studios specializing in Corporate Visual Identity Programs.

Esther was president of the Human Ecology Action League, Inc. and authored a book called Cook Your Way To Better Health. Esther’s main interest was living an organic lifestyle. She had been learning the computer as a hobby and enjoyed traveling, skiing, ice skating, horseback riding, swimming and golf.

A special thank you to her friend, Tea Stiles, NorthPointe Terrace Staff and Beloit Regional Hospice for all their help and care that was given to Esther. She was predeceased by her parents, sister June R. Schenck and a very special friend, Helen Rosenberger. Graveside service for Esther will be at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Baraboo, WI.

Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to Beloit Regional Hospice or NorthPointe Terrace. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.
