Michael Lance Boyea, 71, of Charlotte, passed away February 28, 2019, at Hospice of Cabarrus County. Michael is survived by his brother William and sister-in-law Sandra Boyea. He was born in Binghamton, New York, on October 28, 1947 to the late Willard Edmund and Geraldine Anita Avery Boyea.

After school, he answered his country’s call to service in the United States Navy from which he was subsequently honorably discharged. Michael came to Charlotte in 1979 as an employee of IBM. Michael enjoyed many things in life.

He was a movie buff and using his artistry talent to create paintings. What he most enjoyed, however, was time spent with family and friends. Though he never married and had no children of his own, he loved the time spent with his nieces and nephews, teaching them life lessons like how to play Canasta.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Michael is survived by his brother, William “Bill” (wife Sandra) Boyea of Harrisburg; Stephen (wife Lisa) Boyea of Walden, NY; and Christine (husband Richard) Boyea Barriger of Mint Hill; nieces and nephews: Zachariah and Gabriel Barriger; Arthur and Nicole Mott. He is further survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Michael’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him and for them. A visitation will be held on Friday, Mar 8, at 1 pm, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, followed by a service in the chapel at 2 pm.
