Michael Louis Simmons, 62, peacefully transitioned from this life November, 13, 2018 in his hometown of South Bend, IN surrounded by loved ones. Affectionately known as “Mike” to close friends and family he possessed a kind spirit, was a man of few words, however was always able to offer educated advice, or simply a wise word when needed. Mike was the oldest of 7 children born to the late Archie and Phyllis (Brown) Simmons Sr

He was well respected by not only his siblings, but by everyone that was given the opportunity to get to know him. After attending LaSalle High School Mike earned his General Education Degree in 1974. Mike then went on to enlist in the U.S. Air-Force where he served his country for several years.

In 1992, Mike relocated to Louisville, KY where he resided until 2008. At which time he decided to move back to South Bend to be closer to his father, children, and extended family in an effort to rebuild those bonds, this effort proved to be successful. Mike reunited in death with his parents Archie and Phyllis (Brown) Simmons Sr., his younger brother Mark Anthony (Tony) Simmons, and a special Aunt Rubye Walker Paige.

Left to treasure his memory are his life partner Judy Adams, five daughters Shareena Randall, Tyra Chinn, Tamora Malone, Cherval Frison, and SaDonna Swanson, one son Michael Adams, two brothers Steven (Shirley) Simmons of Lewisburg TN, Archie (Carolyn) Simmons of Bristol, IN, three sisters Crystal (Terry) Lighthall, Phyllis (Wilbur) Campbell Sr. and Karla (Larry) Parker Sr., all of South Bend, IN. He is also Survived by 23 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins to say the least. Home going services will be held Saturday, November 24 ,2018, viewing will begin at 12:00 PM and funeral services will be at 1:00 PM at Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend IN 46628.
