Michael’s Obituary Michael “Mike” Parker, 67, died January 13, 2019, after a short battle with cancer. He was born, the second of two sons, to J.W. and Orvetta Parker in Okarche, Oklahoma. Mike spent most of his early childhood around the El Reno and Yukon area.

As a teen he and his family moved to a small farm near Mustang so he could raise and show his beloved horses. Upon graduating from Mustang High School in 1969, he served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. On June 4, 1971, he married his love Merry and together they had a son and daughter.

Mike was employed at the Bridgestone/Firestone plant for 33 ½ years; retiring in 2003. After retirement he enjoyed spending countless hours with his five grandchildren, attending piano recitals, vocal concerts, high school graduations, baseball and basketball games, awards assemblies, and of course at the end of the day he made sure to take them to their favorite places to eat. Mike is survived by his wife Merry; daughter, Marcie and husband Dale Metzinger; son, Micah Parker and wife Candice and grandchildren: Katherine, Amber, Gracie, Nathan, and Matthew.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Orvetta Parker and brother, Marion Parker. There will be a “Celebration of Life” on Friday, January 18, come and go from 10am-2pm at Yanda & Son Funeral Home in Yukon, Oklahoma. A private burial will be held at Red Rock Cemetery in Calumet, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, Mike had one request, “Take that money, go out and have a good dinner with your family!
