Obituary for Michael Rindfleisch Just before sunrise on July 8th, Michael Lyle Rindfleisch, 66, slipped quietly into God’s grace. Michael was born in Bemidji, Minnesota on July 26, 1951. In 1964, the family moved to Columbus and settled in Clintonville.

Michael was the oldest of six brothers and sisters and attended Whetstone and Bishop Watterson high schools. After graduation he worked for Gold Circle and Union Cemetery. Because he loved both horse and harness racing, his favorite job was working as a money manager for Beulah Park.

Michael enjoyed watching and talking Ohio State and Cleveland Browns football, but his true passion was harness racing. He always had a chair along the fence for The Little Brown Jug during Delaware County Fair week. Outside of sports and family, music was an important influence in Michael’s life, beginning with the fun and colorful 1960’s “Battle of the Bands” events in Whetstone Park.

Mike also enjoyed listening to Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, and David Sanborn. Michael is survived by and will be deeply missed by his loving son Nathan; parents Dr. Nolan and Rita Rindfleisch; former wife and close friend, Cindy Rindfleisch; siblings, Roberta (James) Roesch, Gail (Doug) Jenkins, Noel Rindfleisch, Leah (Jessie) Turner and Sarah (Peter) Ellsworth; nieces Danielle, Molly, Abigail, Alexis and Emily; nephews, Shawne, Joseph and Ethan; along with lifelong friends from North Columbus. Michael was preceded in death by infant brother John Stephen, his grandparents Ann and Lester Savard, and Adolph and Lillian Rindfleisch.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 13, 2018 from 11 am to 1pm at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, OH. A celebration of life service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 1 pm. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
