Michael “Sav”‘s Obituary Michael Ray “Sav” Markins, 74, of Ironton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky. Sav was born, February 2, 1945 in Ironton, Ohio, a son to the late Alex and Fannie (Morrison) Markins. Sav was a 1963 graduate of Ironton High School, where he played basketball and baseball.

He was an US Army Veteran, and received Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Honorable Discharge in 1967. After returning from the Army, he was a Quality Controller for Dayton Malleable for 20 years. Anyone who knew Sav, knew he was a lifelong Ironton Tiger Fighting Fan, and enjoyed his Sunday drives, every day of the week!

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: brother: David Markins sister: Rose Marie Markins Rist nephew: Derek McCown Sav is survived by: four children: Alex (Holly) Markins of League City, TX, Ronda (Jason) Markins Poe of Thonotosassa, FL, Beverly (Randy) Colvin Harmon and Larry Colvin both of Ironton, OH sister: Joann Markins McCown of Ironton, OH seven grandchildren: Ace Markins, Bryce Markins both of League City, TX, Rachel Poe and Cassidy Ray Poe both of Thonotosassa, FL, Wes Harmon, Amber Harmon and Tabitha Colvin all of Ironton, OH six great grandchildren Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, Ohio. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, with military graveside rites, provided by VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be Saturday, 11:00 A.M. until time of the service at the funeral home.
