Obituary for Michael Scott Griffo Michael “Fonch” Scott Griffo, of Lakewood, Ohio, passed away at the age of 49 on May 3, 2018. He was born on January 27, 1969 in Hempstead, New York, to Kathleen. Michael married Heather Alles on November 16, 1991 in Columbus, Ohio, where they both grew up.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Elena; his wife, Heather; his mother, Kathleen; brothers, Gary (Kari), Ken, and John; brothers-in-law, Todd (Kathy) and Justin along with his nieces, nephews and cousins. Michael’s fun loving spirit continues to live on through his many cherished friends. Michael loved rock ‘n’ roll music and attending concerts for favorite bands like the Drive-By Truckers and Widespread Panic.

He enjoyed good craft beer, cigars and bourbon and supported the Buckeyes, Browns, Tribe and Cavs as a fan. He earned an MBA from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business in 1995, a bachelor’s degree from Miami University in 1990 and a diploma from Dublin Coffman High School in 1986. An accomplished commercial real estate financier with more than 20 years of experience, Mike served most recently as the senior vice president at First National Bank in Cleveland, Ohio, where, in 2016, he was named Relationship Manager of the Year.

Friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation on Wednesday, May 9 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rutherford Funeral Home, 450 W Olentangy Street, Powell, Ohio. Following that, there will be a celebration of life service at 6 p.m. at Rutherford Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s name to The Ohio State University Foundation care of Fisher College of Business.
