OBITUARY Michael Veit November 25, 1955 – November 6, 2018 OBITUARY FOR MICHAEL M. VEIT DATELINE: WESTBROOK DATE: November 7, 2018 Michael M. Veit, age 62 of Westbrook passed away on Tuesday November 6, 2018 in the comfort of his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Portland son of Charles and Margaret Winch Veit where he attended local schools graduating from Westbrook High School class of 1973. Michael was employed at SAPPA (formerly S.D. Warren Paper Mill) for 33 years until his retirement.
He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing on the Portland Pier. He was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan, and enjoyed golfing at various courses plus his passion for playing cards with many of his friends. He also enjoyed going to Oxford Casino.
He was a member of Westbrook Eagles Club for several years. Michael was known for his ability to be a handy man where he could do most anything you asked him to do. His wife Delores will always remember the beautiful flowers that Michael would send to her monthly.
He is predeceased by a brother, Charles Veit, Jr., sisters; Sharon Jackson and Catherine Colprit. Besides his loving wife of 26 years Delores (Pizzo) Veit of Westbrook, he leaves two sons; Michael Veit, Jr of Topsham, Erik Norton of Boston, Mass, a brother, John & his wife Charlene Veit of Saco, 3 Sisters; Martha & her husband Raymond Carver of Saco, Rose Veit of Saco, Geraldine Colprit of Scarborough, 3 Grandchildren; Hannah Norton, Sami Norton both of Boston, Gwendolyn Veit of Topsham, Brothers-in-law; Gary Jackson of Limington, George Naimey of Westbrook, Michael & his wife Maria Trivellin of Portland, Jimmy Pizzo & his wife Mary Polito of Portland, Paul Connelly of South Portland, and his longtime best friend Richard Anderson of Westbrook. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Saturday November 10, 2018 from 10 to 12 noon followed by a funeral service at noon at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St, Portland. Interment will follow in the family lot at Woodlawn Cemetery, Westbrook. If so desired, contributions may be made in his memory to the Alumni at the Boys & Girls Club, 277 Cumberland Ave, Portland, ME.
